New Network "STEMS" in Italy

edited May 2022 in STEMS

The new network STEMS has been recently added to the ISMN!!!

The stations of the STEMS network are located in the erosion-prone vine and wine plots of Tenuta Cannona in the Piemonte region of Italy. It is an experimental project of the Agricultural and Earthmoving Machines (IMAMOTER) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and Institute of Sciences and Technologies for Sustainable Energy and Mobility initiated to evaluate the effects of agricultural management practices on the hydrologic, soil erosion and soil compaction. The Cannona erosion plots represent the most long-lasting experiment for runoff and soil erosion monitoring in north of Italy.

STEMS consists of 4 stations with soil moisture and soil temperature observations measured at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 cm depths. There are also meteorological data: precipitation, air temperature and air humidity which are collected from a weather station near to the plots. The STEMS stations has observation data from 2017 till present.

More information about the investigation in the Cannona experimental site can be found here

We would kindly thank Giorgio Capello and Marcella Biddoccu for providing us with the data and all the relevant information for the implementation.
